Renault Catalytic Converter Scrap Price Today: One Reference, Eight Vehicles

The Renault Nissan Alliance shared engines for two decades, and the catalyst databases show the result. A single 1.5 dCi reference covers eight vehicles across two brands, and another adds Dacia, Infiniti and Mercedes.

Last updated

Renault catalytic converters run about $25 to $300 for one original unit in 2026. Renault Trucks units lead at $75 to $300, diesel particulate filters bring $50 to $250, Master and Trafic units $50 to $225, Megane and Espace units $50 to $200, Clio and Twingo units $40 to $150, and dCi oxidation catalysts $25 to $125.

The Alliance is written into the part numbers

Renault and Nissan shared engines, platforms and suppliers for two decades, and nowhere is that clearer than in a catalyst database.

One reference for the 1.5 dCi diesel is listed against eight vehicles: the Renault Kangoo, Clio and Megane III, and the Nissan e-NV200 Evalia, Note II, Juke, Pulsar and Qashqai. One part number, two marques, eight cars.

Another 1.5 dCi reference reaches differently, covering the Renault Kangoo II and Clio alongside the Nissan Note and NV200 and the Dacia Logan Pick-Up, Duster and Sandero. A third is more surprising still: it lists the Renault Megane, Scenic and Clio IV together with the Nissan Qashqai II, the Infiniti Q30 and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176.

So if a buyer tells you a Renault unit is an unfamiliar item, the reference is almost certainly already in their list under Nissan, and possibly under Dacia, Infiniti or Mercedes as well.

Why the numbers are modest

Worth stating plainly rather than letting the table disappoint.

Renault is a diesel-dominated brand across its home markets, and diesel catalysts are platinum-led with very little palladium and essentially no rhodium. That puts a dCi oxidation catalyst at $25 to $125, well below a comparable petrol unit from a Japanese or American brand.

The compensation is that most diesel Renaults carry two saleable components rather than one. From 2005 a diesel particulate filter sits downstream of the catalyst, and it is a separate part worth $50 to $250, frequently more than the catalyst ahead of it.

So the vehicle total on a diesel Renault is often better than the catalyst figure suggests, provided you sell both parts and the buyer prices them separately. If someone quotes a single figure for the exhaust, ask which component it covers.

The vans, and who else uses them

The commercial range is where the biggest Renault car units sit, and the sharing goes further again.

The Master 2.3 dCi shares its reference with the Opel Movano B, the Nissan NV400 and the Nissan NP300 Navara. The Trafic and its 1.9 dCi relatives share with the Opel Vivaro 1.9 DTi, alongside the Renault Espace, Laguna, Megane and Scenic.

That gives you cross-checks in three directions. The Nissan page covers the NV400 and Navara side, and the Opel and Vauxhall pages cover the Movano and Vivaro. If a quote on a Master unit looks light, those are the numbers to hold it against.

Renault Trucks is a separate business again, and units from the Midlum, Premium and Magnum are heavy commercial parts at $75 to $300, priced individually rather than by any car grade.

Reading a Renault reference

Renault part numbers follow a recognisable pattern once you have seen one.

They generally run in the 8200 series, often as a pair: a main number such as 8200223012B alongside an H-prefixed variant like H8200223008. Other examples in circulation include 8200507022B with H8200366351, and 8200229146 with H8200229143.

Photograph both numbers if you can see both. Buyer databases index them together, and giving the pair removes any ambiguity about which version of the part you have.

Renault prices around the world

Platinum, palladium and rhodium settle in US dollars, so a Renault reference holds the same metal value in every market. Currency and local buyer depth are what change. The table converts the Renault span into each market's money at today's rate.

They are not local market prices: recovered material markets differ genuinely by country, and no free licensed local series exists for us to show. Rates refresh daily.

These conversions are the metal-value anchor rather than a local quote. Renault sells across Europe, North Africa, South America and parts of Asia, and the same vehicles appear as Dacia in several markets and as Renault Samsung in South Korea.

Questions people actually ask

How much is a Renault catalytic converter worth as scrap?

Between roughly $25 and $300 for one original unit in 2026. dCi oxidation catalysts bring $25 to $125, Clio and Twingo units $40 to $150, Megane and Espace units $50 to $200, Master and Trafic units $50 to $225, diesel particulate filters $50 to $250, and Renault Trucks units $75 to $300.

Do Renault and Nissan converters share part numbers?

Extensively. One 1.5 dCi reference is listed against eight vehicles: the Renault Kangoo, Clio and Megane III and the Nissan e-NV200, Note II, Juke, Pulsar and Qashqai. Other references add Dacia, Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz models to the same part.

Why are Renault converters worth less than American or Japanese ones?

Because most are diesel units. A diesel oxidation catalyst uses mostly platinum with very little palladium and almost no rhodium, so it sits below a comparable petrol converter. Diesel vehicles do carry a separate particulate filter worth $50 to $250, which lifts the vehicle total.

What is the number on a Renault catalytic converter?

Renault references generally run in the 8200 series and often appear as a pair, such as 8200223012B alongside H8200223008. Photograph both numbers, since buyer databases index them together and the pair removes ambiguity about the exact part.

Is a Renault Master converter the same as an Opel Movano one?

Yes. The Master 2.3 dCi shares its reference with the Opel Movano B, the Nissan NV400 and the Nissan NP300 Navara, so all four price the same. The Trafic shares similarly with the Opel Vivaro.

Figures on this page are indicative buyer ranges for complete, uncut original units and are not offers to buy. Converter types, codes and selling rules are covered on the main catalytic converter price page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Renault catalytic converter worth as scrap?

Between roughly $25 and $300 for one original unit in 2026. dCi oxidation catalysts bring $25 to $125, Clio and Twingo units $40 to $150, Megane, Espace and Laguna units $50 to $200, Master and Trafic units $50 to $225, diesel particulate filters $50 to $250, and Renault Trucks units $75 to $300.

Do Renault and Nissan catalytic converters share part numbers?

Extensively. One 1.5 dCi reference is catalogued against eight vehicles: the Renault Kangoo, Clio and Megane III alongside the Nissan e-NV200, Note II, Juke, Pulsar and Qashqai. Further references add Dacia, Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz models to the same part.

Why are Renault converters worth less than American or Japanese ones?

Because most are diesel units, and a diesel oxidation catalyst is platinum-led with very little palladium and almost no rhodium. Diesel vehicles from 2005 do carry a separate particulate filter worth $50 to $250, so the whole-vehicle total is usually better than the catalyst figure alone.

What do the numbers on a Renault catalytic converter mean?

Renault references generally run in the 8200 series and often appear as a pair, for example 8200223012B alongside H8200223008. Photograph both numbers where visible, since buyer databases index them together and the pair identifies the exact part.

Is a Renault Master converter the same as an Opel Movano one?

Yes. The Master 2.3 dCi shares its catalyst reference with the Opel Movano B, the Nissan NV400 and the Nissan NP300 Navara, so all four are priced identically. The Trafic shares in the same way with the Opel and Vauxhall Vivaro.

How many saleable parts does a diesel Renault have?

Usually two. The oxidation catalyst comes first at $25 to $125, and on 2005 and later vehicles a diesel particulate filter sits downstream as a separate component worth $50 to $250. A single quote for the exhaust normally covers only one of them.
