GMC catalytic converters run about $60 to $400 for one original unit in 2026. Sierra 2500 and 3500 units bring $200 to $400, Sierra 1500 and Yukon units $125 to $300 each, Savana van units $100 to $275, and Canyon or Terrain units $75 to $200. Most V8 GMCs carry two units, so a truck holds double.
Most people reading a GMC page are not selling one converter off one car. They are working through vehicles coming out of service, and the useful question is what each retiring truck returns rather than what the brand is worth in the abstract.
Roll call
Work through the fleet by body type, because that is how the classes fall.
Heavy pickups. Sierra 2500 and 3500 lead everything at $200 to $400 per unit, two per truck. These are Large GM class units, the bulkiest on the list.
Half-tons and big SUVs. Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL and Denali sit together at $125 to $300 each, again two per vehicle.
Vans. Savana at $100 to $275. This is the model with the most search traffic on the brand, and the section below explains why.
Mid-size. Envoy at $100 to $250, Acadia at $75 to $225, Terrain and Canyon at $75 to $200.
Older light trucks. Jimmy and Sonoma at $60 to $200, GM Regular class.

Ranges are compiled from published core-buyer class lists, catalyst exchange transaction data and current scrap guides; they are not a live per-code feed. Every figure is per unit. Multiply by the count on the vehicle before treating any of it as a recovery figure.
The Acadia is three, not two
This one is worth flagging because it breaks the pattern everyone assumes.
The 3.6 V6 Acadia carries three converters on many model years, not the two that a V6 normally implies. Replacement sets for these vehicles are routinely sold as three-piece kits with a flex pipe, which is the clearest confirmation available that the count is three.
At $75 to $225 per unit, that turns a vehicle most people would write down as a $150 recovery into something closer to $225 to $675. If you are retiring Acadias, count them on the vehicle rather than assuming.
Savana: the volume story
More people search GMC converter prices for the Savana than for any other model in the range, and the reason is duty cycle rather than value.
Vans work harder and get retired on schedule. A fleet running Savanas replaces them in batches, so the same operator is looking at converter recovery repeatedly rather than once in a decade. The unit itself is a Large GM van-body converter at $100 to $275, identical to the Chevrolet Express equivalent.
For anyone turning over several at once, two things pay. Photograph each unit separately with its code visible so the buyer quotes line by line. And ask about a volume tier — a dismantler or fleet operator moving ten or twenty units negotiates a rate a single seller never sees.
Chevy twins: same part, different tailgate
Every GMC in the table above has a Chevrolet counterpart, and in most cases it is the same converter.
Sierra and Silverado. Yukon and Tahoe. Savana and Express. Envoy and TrailBlazer. Canyon and Colorado. Terrain and Equinox. Jimmy and Blazer, Sonoma and S10.
The practical consequence: if a buyer quotes you differently on a Sierra than the Chevrolet page shows for a Silverado of the same year and engine, ask why. The badge is not a valuation.
Both brands are graded against the same class list, which the GM class reference sets out term by term — Large GM, GM Medium, GM Regular and the rest.
Duramax: a separate line entirely
Diesel GMCs do not price like petrol GMCs, and treating them as one item costs money twice over.
The diesel oxidation catalyst uses mostly platinum with very little palladium and essentially no rhodium — roughly 2 to 3 grams of precious metal against 10 to 15 in a petrol unit. It brings $75 to $250.
On 2007 and later Duramax trucks there is also a diesel particulate filter further down the exhaust, and that component is worth $100 to $350 on its own. Two parts, two prices. A single quote for “the diesel exhaust” is covering one of them.
GMC prices around the world
Platinum, palladium and rhodium settle in US dollars, so a GMC unit holds the same metal value everywhere. Currency and local buyer depth are what change. The table converts the GMC span into each market’s money at today’s rate.
Market Currency Unit Equivalent range United States USD per unit $60.00 to 400.00 United Kingdom GBP per unit £44.38 to 295.89 Canada CAD per unit C$82.98 to 553.23 Australia AUD per unit A$83.26 to 555.07 Germany EUR per unit €51.66 to 344.43 India INR per unit ₹5,673 to 37,819 Bangladesh BDT per unit ৳7,376 to 49,171 United Arab Emirates AED per unit AED220.35 to 1,469 Saudi Arabia SAR per unit SAR225.00 to 1,500 Turkey TRY per unit ₺2,908 to 19,384 South Africa ZAR per unit R957.45 to 6,383 China CNY per unit CN¥403.16 to 2,688
Treat these as the metal-value anchor rather than a local quote. GMC is a largely North American brand, so most readers here are working the US column, though Sierra and Yukon reach the Middle East and parts of Latin America.
Recovery per vehicle retired
The figure that matters for planning is not the per-unit price but what comes off each vehicle.
A Sierra 2500 with two units returns roughly $400 to $800. A Sierra 1500 or Yukon returns $250 to $600. A Savana returns $100 to $275 for one unit, more where a second is fitted. An Acadia with three units returns $225 to $675. A Canyon or Terrain returns $75 to $200 plus whatever the manifold pre-cat brings.
Against a replacement truck those are not large numbers, but they are recovered from a part that would otherwise leave the yard as steel weight, and they scale with the size of the turnover.
Questions people actually ask
How many catalytic converters does a GMC Sierra have?
Most V8 Sierras carry two, one per exhaust bank, each worth $125 to $300 on the 1500 and $200 to $400 on the 2500 and 3500. Several model years add a manifold pre-cat on top. Count them on the vehicle rather than trusting a parts diagram.
Do GMC and Chevrolet converters price the same?
Usually yes, because they are frequently the same part. A Sierra and a Silverado, a Yukon and a Tahoe, a Savana and an Express all share platforms and converters, and both brands are graded against the same GM class list.
How many converters does a GMC Acadia have?
The 3.6 V6 carries three on many model years rather than two, which is why replacement kits for these vehicles are sold as three-piece sets. At $75 to $225 per unit that is a materially different recovery figure from the two most sellers assume.
Is a Duramax converter worth more than a petrol Sierra one?
No. The diesel oxidation catalyst brings $75 to $250 because it is mostly platinum with almost no rhodium, against $125 to $400 for a petrol Sierra unit. The diesel particulate filter is a separate part worth $100 to $350, so ask for both to be quoted.
Figures on this page are indicative buyer ranges for complete, uncut original units and are not offers to buy. Converter types, codes and selling rules are covered on the main catalytic converter price page.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a GMC catalytic converter worth as scrap?
Between roughly $60 and $400 for one original unit in 2026. Jimmy and Sonoma units bring $60 to $200, Canyon and Terrain $75 to $200, Acadia $75 to $225, Envoy $100 to $250, Savana $100 to $275, Sierra 1500 and Yukon $125 to $300 each, and Sierra 2500 or 3500 units $200 to $400.
How many catalytic converters does a GMC Sierra have?
Most V8 Sierras carry two, one per exhaust bank, worth $125 to $300 each on the 1500 and $200 to $400 each on the 2500 and 3500. Several model years also carry a manifold pre-cat. A single truck therefore commonly holds $250 to $800 in converters.
How many converters does a GMC Acadia have?
The 3.6 V6 Acadia carries three on many model years rather than two, which is why replacement sets for these vehicles are sold as three-piece kits with a flex pipe. At $75 to $225 per unit the whole-vehicle figure is roughly $225 to $675.
Do GMC and Chevrolet catalytic converters price the same?
Usually yes, because they are frequently the same part. Sierra and Silverado, Yukon and Tahoe, Savana and Express, Canyon and Colorado all share platforms and converters, and both brands are graded against the same GM class list rather than by badge.
Is a Duramax catalytic converter worth more than a petrol GMC one?
No. The diesel oxidation catalyst uses mostly platinum with almost no rhodium and brings $75 to $250, against $125 to $400 for a petrol Sierra unit. The diesel particulate filter fitted from 2007 is a separate component worth $100 to $350 and should be quoted on its own.
Which GMC catalytic converter is worth the most?
The Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD units at $200 to $400 each, followed by the Sierra 1500, Yukon and Denali at $125 to $300. All of these carry a pair, so the whole-vehicle recovery is roughly double the per-unit figure.
