Scrap Metal Prices in Warsaw Today

Skup zlomu prices in Warsaw today in zloty per kilogram, in the city that produces Poland's scrap without melting any of it.

Updated · Prices in PLN per kg and per tonne · Reviewed by the Scrap Price Today editorial team

Warsaw generates more scrap than anywhere else in Poland and consumes almost none of it. The metal leaves for Silesia. What the capital has instead is competition between buying points, and a seller who only phones one of them is leaving money behind.

The scrap market in Warsaw

Warsaw is a generator, not a consumer. The mills are in Silesia and the south, so metal collected in the capital is consolidated and hauled. That distance sits between the national price and what a Warsaw punkt skupu can pay, and it is the main reason capital rates are not automatically the best in the country.

What the city does have is volume and density of buyers. Construction, refurbishment, commercial fit-out and vehicle work generate a steady stream, and a large number of punkty skupu compete for it, many publishing dated cenniki and offering collection from an address for larger quantities.

For an ordinary seller the practical consequence is simple. Because rates are published and yards are numerous, checking two or three cenniki before you load the car costs nothing and is the single most reliable way to improve what you are paid here.

Where the scrap yards are in Warsaw

  • Buying points across the city and the surrounding Mazovian belt.
  • Pruszkow and the western industrial approaches, where several established yards sit.
  • The construction and refurbishment sector, which is the capital's main source of ferrous and copper.

What pays well in Warsaw

  • Miedz from electrical and plumbing work, the highest value item most Warsaw sellers will ever have.
  • Aluminium from windows, rolety, zaluzje and profiles, which the capital generates constantly through refurbishment.
  • Zlom stalowy in quantity, where reaching the published 200 kilo threshold raises the rate on the whole load.

Ceny zlomu w Warszawie: what customers recorded

These are rates Warsaw sellers reported at the point of sale, in zloty per kilo, with dollar equivalents so they can be checked against an international reference. They are individual transactions on days we cannot verify, so treat them as orders of magnitude rather than quotes.

The clearest pair comes from one yard on the same day: clean bright copper at 43 zloty and dirty copper at 38. That is roughly 13 percent for cleaning, on the same metal, at the same counter.

  • Copper, clean and bright: 43 zl per kg, about 11.30 dollars per kg or 11,300 dollars a tonne
  • Copper, dirty: 38 zl per kg, about 10.00 dollars per kg
  • Copper, quoted by phone at 30 and calculated at 27: the most common Polish complaint, in one line
  • Steel, thin ON2 under 200 kg: 0.70 zl per kg, about 184 dollars a tonne
  • Steel, W10 over 200 kg: 0.95 zl per kg, about 250 dollars a tonne

Selling scrap metal in Warsaw: rules, ID and payment

A domestic sale in Warsaw is an ordinary transaction with paperwork. Expect a formularz przyjecia as a private individual, or a karta przekazania odpadu with a BDO entry if you are selling as a company. Cash on the spot is normal for private sellers. Agree the price per kilo for your specific grade before anything is weighed, and expect a contamination deduction on steel rather than treating it as a surprise.

Before any sale, check the live board above, sort by grade and get quotes from two or three buyers; the best scrap price guide covers the routine and the calculator turns a weight into a figure at today's price. To judge whether a local quote is competitive, our note on telling a well-paying yard from a headline rate sets out the benchmark test.

Warsaw scrap price FAQ

What is the scrap copper price in Warsaw today?

As of the latest update, the indicative price for clean number 1 copper is about zl 49.55 per kg in PLN. Warsaw yards typically quote within a few percent of that figure either side, depending on grade, volume and the buyer; the live board above shows all fifteen grades.

Are Warsaw scrap prices the highest in Poland?

Not automatically. The capital generates the most scrap but melts almost none of it, so material has to be hauled to mills in Silesia and the south. That transport cost sits between the national market and what a Warsaw yard can offer.

How do I get a better price in Warsaw?

Compare published cenniki. Warsaw has a high density of punkty skupu, most of which publish dated price lists, so checking two or three before you travel is the most reliable improvement available to you.

Will a Warsaw yard collect from my address?

For larger quantities, commonly yes. Polish yards routinely place containers and collect, with terms agreed individually rather than published. For a small household load you will normally be expected to deliver.

Are Warsaw prices different from the national board?

The board on this page is the Poland indicative level, and Warsaw yards trade around it rather than exactly on it. Local competition, freight to the nearest consumer and the day's export demand set the spread, which is why two quotes in the same city can differ by several percent on the same morning.

Sources and methodology

The Warsaw board uses the Poland indicative prices: global exchange benchmarks (COMEX copper, CME aluminum and steel, NYMEX platinum and palladium, IMF monthly lead, zinc and nickel) multiplied by typical yard recovery shares, a local market factor of 1.00 and the day's exchange rate. The full method, the recovery shares and the correction policy are on our editorial policy page; local notes on this page are reviewed against published dealer information and reader corrections sent to info@scrappricetoday.com.

Prices are indicative and for information only; they are not offers to buy or sell. Yard quotes in Warsaw vary by grade, volume, condition and buyer.
